Mike’s on the Water in St. Clair Shores: A Snoopy Haven with a Heart - WDIV Local 4

Mike Lefevre, owner of Mike’s on the Water, is no stranger to unique ventures. Known for his innovative ideas, his restaurant has become a beloved local fixture, tucked away right on the water off Jefferson Avenue.

In 2018, Lefevre made headlines by placing a food truck on the roof of his restaurant, a testament to his creativity and willingness to push boundaries. His latest project, however, is a heartfelt tribute to his favorite childhood character, Snoopy, and a means to support various charities.

Inside Mike’s on the Water, patrons can find a dedicated Snoopy room, which has quickly become a highlight of the restaurant. The room features over 16,000 Snoopy and Peanuts artifacts, some dating back to 1965. These include candies, Pez containers, and other memorabilia meticulously collected by Lefevre over the years. The centerpiece of the collection is Lefevre’s original Snoopy plush toy, lovingly preserved despite numerous repairs by his grandmother.

But the Snoopy room is more than just a nostalgic trip down memory lane. It serves a philanthropic purpose, raising funds for different charities each month. Since its opening in November, the Snoopy room has already raised over $10,000. In May alone, it contributed more than $2,000 to Wigs for Kids, a charity that provides wigs at no cost to children battling cancer.

The choice of charity is deeply personal for Lefevre, who lost his sister to cancer 12 years ago. “Every child doesn’t have to have a wig, but every child has to have a choice,” says Maggie Varney, founder of Wigs for Kids, emphasizing the importance of giving children hope and a sense of normalcy during their treatment.

Lefevre’s commitment to giving back is a tribute to his sister, Susan Marie, who affectionately called him “Snoop.” Their bond and shared love for Snoopy inspire Lefevre’s ongoing charitable efforts, turning his passion into a force for good in the community.
